Christmas with the Johnson Clan

Jim and I spent Christmas at his parents' house in Plano. It has become a tradition for us to spend the night so we can watch Madeleine and Miriam open their stockings in the morning. Joel and Wendy drove down with the girls to spend Christmas in Texas. They arrived the Saturday before Christmas and left on the Thursday after Christmas. It was so much fun with them here.

Jim was in charge of making pecan pie and peach cobbler this year. I only had to bring a fruit salad. Talk about getting off lucky. Jim got the hard work. We drove to Bill and Betty's the afternoon of the 24th. Jay and Cristy were there as well. After the girls went to bed, Santa's helpers began stuffing stockings. This year, the adults got their stockings filled as well. It made for a fun Christmas morning.

Miriam being the early bird, woke up around 6ish. Luckily, she doesn't really have the hang of this Santa thing, or we would have all woken up. She let us sleep in until around eight. Good times... Jim and I are still on the " we don't have kids so we can sleep in" schedule. Yes, we are fully aware that gravy train is about to end.

After stockings, we ate breakfast. The boys got their hands dirty in the kitchen and made donuts, bacon, eggs, and other goodies. I was quite impressed. It was a great start to our day. Presents were opened next. I think everyone liked what they got. I know I did. The girls couldn't open the presents fast enough. Madeleine wanted to open everyone's gifts. It was all about the kill. Rip them open and leave them to die. Don't get in her way.

Later that evening, Jim's cousins, Ladonna, Ron, and their daughter, Shanna came over for dinner. The boys played outside and the girls gossiped in the kitchen. Just what you would expect at a Christmas feast. Good times had by all! We even celebrated Birthdays. For those who don't know, Jay turned 39 on Christmas Day. Cristy made him a nice cake. The boys and Madeleine got out the guitars and serenaded Jay for his B-day. After Jays, we recognized Wendy's Birthday which will be on January 26th, and my Birthday which was December 11th. Note, I only gave you Jay's age.... I would never reveal a Lady's age without her permission, and I don't have mine...
