Hannah's First Birthday

Hannah turned 1 year on Saturday, the 28th of March. We had family and friends over to celebrate with us. Joel, Wendy, and the girls drove in for the week, so they were there as well. Jay and Cristy planned Kyle's Baptism that Sunday, so Joel and Wendy could attend. Needless to say, it was a big weekend. Hannah handled her big day very well.
The day did not turn out the way we wanted. The weather did not cooperate. It was supposed to be warm and sunny. Cristy, Wendy, and I made tutu's for all the little girls to wear outside. We had bubbles for everyone as well. Guess what? It was too cold to go outside. No one wore their tutu's. It was kinda sad after all that work. Jim and Betty made a strawberry cake, plus a little teddy bear cake to go on top. The Teddy was Hannah's smash cake. It looked wonderful. If you are noticing that I didn't do much, you would be right. I had gotten the Rota virus from Hannah. I was no longer contagious just in time for the party. I had to stay away during all the work.
Hannah smiled at everyone and totally enjoyed herself. I couldn't believe she didn't even melt down during her party. She played and ate her teddy bear cake. Yes, icing was all over her face. we had to run her to the tub before opening gifts. She did manage to open one gift on her own. It was a dress from my friend Erecka. Hannah pulled it out of the bag and walked it around to show everyone. Did she know what she was doing? Doubt it, but it sure looked cute. after that, I let the kids open up the rest of her gifts. Hannah received all kinds of Little People toys, a puzzle, and some books. It was truly a great party.

Since Joel and Wendy were in town, we all went to the Arboretum. Again, the weather was a little off, but it worked in our favor. It was cold and cloudy, but the kind of cloudy that makes for great pictures. We thought this would be the best place to get Easter pictures and a family photo. We spent the whole afternoon getting pictures of all the kids. One of my favorites is where Amanda is sticking her finger in Kyle's mouth. Yes, he sucks on it. Too funny! I'll post a few pics for everyone to see. I'll have to do a part two for arboretum pics.

Happy Birthday, Hannah!!
